Do newsletters help your marketing??

Newsletters act as part of your "keep in touch" marketing strategy. They provide a vehicle for keeping in touch with your current customers or clients and providing them with additional value. The newsletter also is a good vehicle for keeping in touch with prospective customers and clients. Through the use of the newsletter you are continuing to build your relationship with the prospect. They become more and more familiar with you and your services and most importantly the value that you offer. A newsletter can also act as an incentive to build your database, especially if it is a free newsletter. On your website you can offer your "free" newsletter in exchange for the person's name and email address. This gives you information about who is interested in your service, but not buying right now. It gives you the opportunity to develop a relationship for future work together.

Newsletters come in a variety of formats and each has advantages and disadvantages. Traditionally, companies used printed, snail mail newsletters. The big advantage of print media and snail mail is that it gets to the target. It doesn't get caught up in spam filters and email blocks. It provides a hard copy of your information and people tend to keep well produced newsletters longer. Your newsletter could have a great coupon or article that the person wants to act on and they put it in the pile on their desk and eventually they find it, pull it out and follow-up with you. The disadvantages of a print newsletter are the costs for development, printing and mailing. It can be labor intensive for the small operation that is doing the mailing themselves. Personally addressing hundreds of newsletters is time-consuming. If you are not good with software programs, you might need assistance putting the newsletter together in a presentable format, adding to your expense, and then there are the ever rising costs of postage. You will also need to print the newsletter, professionally. Bulk mail is less expensive but comes with many rules and regulations and does not get forwarded if the address is wrong.

Email newsletters or e-zines are much less costly but have other disadvantages. The good things about the e-zine--are that they are inexpensive. You can email thousands of people for little cost. You can use an e-zine service to help with formatting your e-zine and managing your database. There are e-zine service companies that will write and produce your e-zine in it's entirety, but this of course is more costly. Services such as Constant Contact or Aweber or 1shoppingcart, each provide you with the tools to create forms for your website that visitors can fill out and then receive your e-zine. If you create a website with a lot of traffic this is a great way to build your database and potential customer base. These companies also provide you with some great information about who has read your newsletter, how many people clicked on links in your newsletter, how many were blocked and undelivered etc. This becomes valuable information to you in your marketing and knowing who you are hitting and who you are missing. Some of the disadvantages of an e-zine are that many do get blocked by spam filters; email programs and never reaches their target. They also get easily deleted and aren't saved in piles on the desk. It doesn't stay in front of people.

There are many resources out there for developing an e-zine or newsletter. You can subscribe to article lists and receive a wealth of useful information that you can include in your e-zine or print newsletter. You don't have to write each article. I have many articles of value to my readers written by other experts. You can also share your articles with these same services and increase your exposure. This continues to build your reputation, and it also improves your website ratings as you have more and more links to your site from other sites (but, that's a whole different article).

Whether you choose the email version of a newsletter or the print version or both, you need to provide value to your clients and potential clients. Both are a vehicle for you to build your relationship and do new business or additional business. If there is no value then people will "opt-out" and won't be interested in receiving your information. Provide valuable information, it builds your reputation as a resource and an expert. Your reputation builds your business.

Newsletters can help you build your business, if they are done well.

Bona Fide Bluegrass & Mountain Music

Bona Fide Bluegrass & Mountain Music
Clearly inspired by the commercial breakthrough of the O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack, this high-spirited anthology presents 18 songs from the vaults of RCA/Bluebird, offering a crash course in the evolution of old-time country and mountain music into bluegrass. Opening the album is Harry McClintock's 1928 recording of "The Big Rock Candy Mountain," which highlighted the O Brother film, followed by a couple of traditional classics from country's seminal artists--Jimmie Rodgers's "In the Jailhouse Now" and the Carter Family's "Keep on the Sunny Side"--that were revived by others on the hit soundtrack. Five tracks proceed to detail the musical progression of Bill Monroe, the Father of Bluegrass Music, while other staples include the Prairie Brothers' romp through "Shady Grove" and the close harmonies of the Morris Brothers (reminiscent of the better-known Louvin Brothers) on "Salty Dog Blues." Balancing the spiritual uplift of some of the material, the collection ends with the murder balladry of the Country Pardners' "Pretty Polly." --Don McLeese

Customer Review: Great Bluegrass/Mountain Music Sampler

If you're the least bit curious about those genres of music known as Bluegrass and Mountain Music this is as good a CD as any to satisfy that curiosity. The music represented runs from 1928 to 1956 and the sound quality is excellent, even for the first three tracks which were recorded in 1928.

You also get an insert containing comprehensive liner notes wriiten by Rick Kienzle, together with vintage photos of the acknowledged father of Bluegrass, Bill Monroe, the Carter Family, Prairie Ramblers, Jimmy Martin, and "The Father Of Country Music" Jimmie Rodgers. There is also a discography of the contents showing the recording dates and, where applicable, the original single release label and number.

The only item not provided is any national chart details, one reason likely being the fact that such music seldom, if ever, made such charts. However, for what it's worth, In The Jail House Now by Jimmie Rodgers did reach # 14 in July 1928 on what then passed for the national Pop charts on Victor 21245, one of eight he put onto those charts from 1927 to 1932 (the Billboard Country charts - then known as the Most Played Juke Box Folk Records - did not appear until 1944).

The Carter Family - Alvin Pleasant Carter, his wife Sarah and her cousin Maybelle (mother of June Carter Cash) - also had eight make those early Pop charts from 1928 to 1935, including Keep On The Sunny Side (track 3) which went as high as # 9 on Victor 21434 in November 1928 (the song actually dates back to 1905/06 when Billy Murray and Byron G. Harlan had hits with it).

None of the others made any charts, although several were later covered by others and which did: Big Rock Candy Mountain by Bill Phillips in 1971; Little Maggie by Darden Smith in 1988; Roll In My Sweet Baby's Arms by Hank Wilson in 1973; Mule Skinner Blues by The Fendermen in 1960 and by Dolly Parton in 1970; Six White Horses by Tommy Cash in 1970; Salty Dog Blues by Red Foley as Salty Dog Rag in 1952. And, of course, In The Jail House Now which Webb Pierce took to # 1 C&W in 1955, Johnny Cash to # 8 C&W in 1962, Sonny James to # 15 Country in 1977, and Willie Nelson & Webb Pierce to # 72 in 1982.

But chart performances aside, this music was never much about that aspect of the business. Rather, right from it's beginnings it formed a fiercely loyal following that continues to this day, led by the likes of Ricky Skaggs, whose own mandolin playing rivals that of the late great Bill Monroe. If you already love the music, get a copy. If you're in the curious stage, start here.

Global Marketing Partners Califone First Stereo Headphone (2800-RD)

Global Marketing Partners Califone First Stereo Headphone (2800-RD)
CALIFONE FIRST STEREO HEADPHONE - LGHTWGHT/CHILD RED BY ERGOGUYS

Customer Review: Good Size, but just OK quality

I purchased 2 sets of these headphones for my kids, 3 and 5. We used them on 2 plane rides and one of the sides stopped working on one pair - and we were not rough with them at all. The size is nice - they stayed on their head for the most part, but there are much higher quality products out there that cost about the same, have better sound quality, are more cushy and are less flimsy

Customer Review: Califone First Stereo Headphone

I ordered six of these to use in my first grade classroom. They are much easier for small hands to manipulate than the usual headphones issued by the school district. I think what I like best about them is how easy they are for the children to adjust. The size is relatively petite, although I can place them on my head without a problem. The district headphones have sliders on either side which can easily slide down during use, causing students to complain (to me, of course!) about the headphone slipping, or not fitting. The Califone's adjustment is integrated in the piece which fits on the head. The cushion over the ear is better quality too. Very comfortable fit. My only hesitation about them is the fragility of the cord. The district headphones are thicker and can take abuse. The Califones have a thinner cord: children need to be shown how to properly plug and unplug them and warned not to pull on the line or to tangle it. Kids appreciate quality too! Great item. Definitely worth it whether you are a parent or teacher. I'm planning to acquire more.

It also includes under-seat storage, a push-handle, an easy-grip handle bar, extra-wide wheels and front and rear stabilizers for a tip-free ride. The Little People Farm Ride-On is visually stimulating to toddlers and encourages speech. Electronic sounds require 3 "AA" batteries (not included).

Customer Review: Crowd pleaser for little ones

Both my 1 year old and 2 year old daughters enjoyed playing with this toy. They loved to dance and move to the music and press the buttons. It is a bit smaller than I thought it would be, and thus is more intended for a child under 2.

Customer Review: My 1 year old LOVES it

My daughter just turned 1 and this was one of her birthday presents. She would happily spend all day watching the farm animals under the dome spin around, and she dances to the music. She also really enjoys riding on it. I use the handle to push her around and she just squeals and laughs! Once she figures out how to push herself using her feet, I'm sure she'll love it even more. The size is just perfect for her.
